Buddham Sharanam Gachchami

by Sahil Jagtiani

/

about

This chant is in Pali, the language used by Lord Buddha, from the country of his birth, Bharat or India.

Buddham Sharanam Gachchami means I go to the Buddha for refuge. One who takes us from the darkness towards the light of wisdom. Towards higher consciousness & mindfulness.

Dhammam Sharanam Gachchami means I go to the dhamma for refuge. Dhamma is the here and now, it is not taking refuge into some intellectual form of writing or but rather something we can access here and now.

Sangham Sharanam Gachchami means I go to the Sangha or community where people support and help each other in the meditation practice, it is very important to have a community, so that when you are falling down, the community is there to help you.
